Taking Age Stereotypes to Heart
Have you ever impose any negative or disapproving attitudes towards the elderly? If so, it will be better to quit such habit as a recent study has proven that young and middle-aged adults who endorse negative stereotypes about older people display higher rates of strokes, heart attacks and other serious heart problems in their later life. It is proven that a larger amount of people with age stereotypes had suffered a heart ailment of stroke compared to those who rejected age stereotype.
After reading this article, I think this study can help teenagers and adults to change their way of thinking towards the elderly even if it’s by forced. Since they themselves will one day become old and will have young people who discriminate them, so why not first change your view over the elderly. They have totally forgotten about the contribution made by these elderly which impacts our daily life so much.
For myself, I don’t endorse negative stereotypes towards older people. I’d rather treat them with respect other than preventing myself against heart ailment or strokes. This article can provide a big sound-off to people the amount of young generations who discriminate the olds.
