White lines on your fingernails??

What are they? No, they're definately not a sign for every white lie you've made, like which most parents would have told their child.

These commonly found white markings are called Leukonychia. Leukonychia are nonuniform, which means they could appear in differing spots on one or more nails, but fret not! They does not span the nail and doesn't have any harmful effects on the body or whatsoever. In other words, they're insignificant.

Wondered what causes them? The usual explanation to most Leukonychia is nothing more than a minor trauma. It doesn't appear immediately therefore the time of the knock is hard to pin down as it could take weeks for the white line to appear. The other reason for the white lines to appear on your fingernails is the lack of zinc. Zinc, is an essential mineral that plays many roles to keep the body in a healthy functioning state, but too much of it is bad for the body too. Over intake of zinc would weakens the body's immune system.

After reading the article, i've known more about the facts behind fingernails. I understand that those white lines on my nails, Leukonychia, are not harmful and therefore need not worry. I also realised that too much of something good can have a negative effect too, so everything should be balanced up, not too less, not too much. Only then, can we get the best result.
